Firefighters have suppressed a small fire in Costilla that burned one unoccupied building and about two acres of grass earlier today.
At about 3 p.m., fire fighters were dispatched to a fire in Costilla near the intersection of State Roads 522 and 196, according to Mike Cordova, Taos County Fire Chief.
The fire started in a field of grass and sage and spread to the nearby adobe building because of the wind, he said.
A cause has not been determined.
As of 4:45 p.m., the fire was out and crews were mopping up hotspots, Cordova said.
Personnel with the county's Office of Emergency Management, along with firefighters from La Lama, Costilla, Latir, Cerro and Questa were on scene.
