FBI, Taos Pueblo Police probe officer-related shooting

The FBI and Taos Pueblo Department of Public Safety are investigating an officer-related shooting that occurred Wednesday (Aug. 28) at about 8 a.m. on Taos Pueblo.

Nobody was injured, according to a press release from the FBI.

A Taos Pueblo Police officer fired several shots at a van that was reported stolen from a U.S. Postal Service contractor at about 7:30 a.m. at a gas station in EspaƱola, the release states.

Taos Pueblo Officers said the vehicle ran a barrier on Upper Rio Lucero Road and side-swiped a patrol vehicle before going into a ditch beside the road.

Officers from the Rio Arriba Sheriffs Office, New Mexico State Police and Taos County Sheriff's Office attempted to stop the van after it was reported stolen, the release states.

The van's driver is in custody.

The identities of the officer and the driver are not being released at this time.
