Wide-eyed kids filed in with their parents and caregivers to one of the baseball fields in Kit Carson Park Sunday (April 16) for the annual Easter Egg Hunt organized by the local chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens. Under warm sunny skies, the secular celebration drew hundreds of locals to the event, which was divided into sections for different age groups.
At the section for 1 to 3-year-olds, excitement was high as group leader Eugene Holgate informed everyone that a horn would be sounded so everyone in the park would start the egg hunt at 1 p.m. Although there was a very brief false start, the kids and folks were well behaved as the moment arrived. Soon, every child dressed in their Easter best were running through the baseball field picking up eggs and putting them in their baskets. It was a fun event for all.
