Early voting for the Taos 2018 elections closed Friday (March 2) with numbers surpassing the previous election.
A total of 612 early voting and absentee ballots were issued from January 30 to March 2. Of the early ballots, 546 were from early voting which is up from 2016's 427 but down from the 2014 election which brought in 815 early voters.
In Questa, 216 people cast their ballots before the close of early voting. Election Day is bringing a "pretty steady" stream of voters to the single polling place for municipal elections, according to Questa Village Clerk Renee Martinez.
Polls remain open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday (March 6). Voting for Town elections will be held at Town Hall. Questa elections are at the municipal officers.
Votes will be tallied and unofficially announced after 7 p.m. in Taos, Questa, Angel Fire, Red River and Taos Ski Valley.
