Taos Plaza Live has become one of the best ways to hang out with your friends and neighbors just like in the old days. Like the old days, dancing to valsas, rancheras and cumbias brought out the community spirit. At last Thursday’s (June 22) free concert, the Dwayne Ortega Band, with members from Questa and Taos, brought locals young and old onto the cobblestone dancefloor.
The two-hour dance was part of the summer-long concert series conducted every Thursday evening in the center of town. Taos Plaza Live happens because of the support by members of the Taos County Chamber of Commerce and dedicated individuals and organizations. If you haven’t been there, check it out. The next program will feature Out of Nowhere and the John Carey Band.
Photos from last Thursday’s show are featured in this week’s “On the scene” column in Tempo magazine on sale Thursday (June 29).
