The hottest day of the year comes to Taos Country Club on Saturday (Sept. 16). The Taos Milagro Rotary Club’s 11th annual Chile Challenge is a sure bet to bring a few beads of sweat to the brow.
The full day of festivities will benefit the Taos Rotary Scholarship Fund, Dollars for Scholars, which has awarded over $100,000 to local students since the event began, a press release states.
The day starts with a golf tournament beginning at 9 am, followed at 2 p.m. by the Chile Challenge, Battle of the Breweries and Silent Auction.
"The Chile Challenge pits the best chile chefs in northern New Mexico against each other to determine the Chile Challenge Champ," the release states. "Attendees are the winners, as they get to sample all the entries and vote for the winner of the People’s Choice Award. We also have a panel of celebrity judges sampling for the Judges Choice Award."
The Battle of the Breweries offers a wide selection of micro brews from southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. "Sample the brews and vote for your favorite!" the release continues.
The Taos Milagro Chile Challenge Silent Auction is the largest ever in the 11-year history of this event offering merchandise and certificates valued at over $20,000.
Everyone is invited to join the fun and help Taos Milagro Rotary raise "Dollars for Scholars."
The Taos Country Club is located at 54 Golf Course Drive, off County Road 110, south of Ranchos de Taos. Call (575) 758-7300.
