Representatives of many Native American nations will gather at the Raymond G. Murphy Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Albuquerque on Saturday (July 15) for the 12th annual VA Veterans Gourd Dance.
The dance will be from noon to 6 p.m., weather permitting, on the south end of the parade grounds near the facility's San Mateo Boulevard entrance at Gibson Boulevard.
"Veterans reunite with a Gourd Dance to realign their journey, reorganize with prayers, revitalize with unison of songs and get messages of healing from Grandpa Drum," said Tilford C. Brown of the New Mexico VA Health Care System's American Indian Special Emphasis Committee, which is sponsoring the dance.
For more information, call Brown at (505) 265-1711, ext. 2203.
