The first time the Peñasco High volleyball team played Mesa Vista, the Lady Trojans won in three games.

Mesa Vista was on its way to another sweep in their second meeting, Sept. 26, but then Peñasco came alive. PHS won the third game in extra points, 27-25, and then forced a deciding game five with a 25-20 victory. Mesa Vista, however, won the final game, 15-9, to escape Peñasco with their second win over the Lady Panthers.

Peñasco hosted McCurdy the next night, Sept. 27, but the Lady Bobcats won the non-district battle in three games.

PHS (1-9) will now dive into its district schedule, beginning Oct. 8 at Monte del Sol (0-7).
