The regional game warden is looking for information on the large mule deer buck pictured at left.

Officer Matt Pengelly, of New Mexico Game and Fish Department, said Thursday (July 22) that the deer was shot out of season, sometime last winter, in the Arroyo Hondo or San Cristobal area. The buck is alleged to have 26 points and more than 30 inches in width, Pengelly said.

The person who shot a buck of that size out of season may be fined up to $10,000, Pengelly said.

Anyone with information on this deer can contact Pengelly at (575) 758-1097 or, for anonymity, through Operation Game Thief  at (800) 432-4263. A reward is offered.
