Those who did not buy a fuelwood permit for the Carson National Forest will not be able to purchase one until after funding is restored to federal agencies.

A notice on the Carson National Forest’s website states that the government’s “lapse in funding” means the sale of all types of permits, including firewood and other forest products, are suspended until the government reopens.

The notice states that “law enforcement, fire suppression, and other essential services will continue without interruption.”

Carson National Forest Supervisor Buck Sánchez confirmed the notice was accurate. Efforts to reach Forest personnel were unsuccessful.
