Penasco takes district championship over Questa

All-District nominations announced

The three-game match saw Penasco win 25-19, 25-18, 25-23.
As the top two finishers in the district, both teams will move on to the first round of state competition next week. The Lady Panthers, as district champions, will host their game, while the Lady Cats will be on the road. Schedule details will be published on The Taos News website once they have been announced by the New Mexico Athletics Association early next week.
All-District honors were also announced after the district trophy was awarded. For Penasco, Keoma Visarraga, Chelsea Visarraga, Alexandra Trujillo and Feliz Archuleta were nominated. From the Questa squad, Victoria Medina, Tiffany Cisneros and Kelsey Zimmerman were named. In addition, Lady Panthers head coach Dennis Archuleta was named as the district 3-2A Coach of the Year.
